Zero-Waste Collection Program

“Composting is nature’s way of recycling and is one of the most powerful actions we can take to reduce trash in landfills and build healthy soil”

- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

300 pounds of compostable waste

The Zero Waste Program we implemented at Calabasas High School aims to reduce landfill waste while promoting sustainability and environmental awareness across the campus. In collaboration with the Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD) our program installed green composting bins in high-traffic and dining areas throughout the school. Every week, a group of committed Pencil 2 Planet volunteers or LVUSD staff ensures the collection and replacement of the bins, thank you to our volunteers and LVUSD! We partnered with Waste Management to secure and pick up the food waste from the bins!
